Roko 20 is more than a primary school providing children from disadvantaged backgrounds with a free education - It is a family, a community, a group of people with compassion and a passion for improving the lives of our community.
Behind the scenes is our Manager, Job, whose involvement in the welfare of the children and their families ensures that those going through the most difficult of times receive our support. Identifying a need, working with the community and other local groups he is mindful to empower rather than encourage dependency and his support provides the right amount of assistance. This is his report: “This was amazing. I dropped the food at Peninah and Julieta's home this evening. I was amazed by their mother who told me to pass her love to Tracey. This lady could not utter a word to us when we first met the family. Sometimes looking directly at our faces was hard but today she called her children to help collect various donations of maize, beans and rice, sanitary towels and clothes. It may not seem like much, but for the family it means a lot to them. This lady has built up confidence, the elephantatis disease she once had has now healed and there is improvement in cleanliness. This the satisfaction of Roko 20 work. Be blessed all for the good work you are doing to people you are not related or from same race. God bless you. The maize, beans and rice was donated by Open Door Kenya. Soap and flour by Zakaya, local business man and his group from Nairobi, sanitary towels from Roko 20 and clothes from our Teacher Carol’s friend.” |
