OUR GOVERNING BOARD
Douglas FernandezDouglas has been involved in supporting Roko 20 since 2015.
He was born in Nairobi, Kenya, and loves the Country and its people. He has, through friends living locally got the school electricity which has given the school besides many possibilities, the opportunity to host Computer classes. He has linked his children’s primary school, Harvey Road School, UK to support Roko 20 both financially through fund raising and sharing knowledge. His career has been in the Energy Sector in roles that are Operational. |
Jonny SuttonJonny first visited Roko 20 Academy on September 2018 and stayed for the entire School Term 3. Initially helping the teachers with sports coaching, he also assisted pupils with extra reading practice and mathematics. He was responsible for setting up the end of year Sports Day and arranged competitive football matches against a neighbouring school. Jonny returned to Roko 20 in 2019 for a shorter stint which again involved improving sports activities.
Jonny has been instrumental in organizing local charity events to raise awareness and much needed funds for Roko 20 charity. He has also visited primary schools at his home in Pembrokeshire to give talks and further raise the profile of the school. Jonny has worked for the Local Authority in Pembrokeshire for 22 years. |
DANIELA AMASANTI-DE BONoDaniela has been involved in supporting
Roko 20 since it was founded in 2014. She visited the school in 2016 during which she helped support the teachers to introduce art classes. In the UK Daniela has worked for the NHS for 26 years. Part of her clinical role involves Safeguarding. She is also a medical educator, supporting young doctors and colleagues through their Registrar Training andAnnual Appraisals. |
Mark SmithA successful educational consultant who has worked in education and teacher training for the past 20 years in the UK and projects overseas including Ethiopia, Iraq, Syria, Nigeria and Uganda.
Specialist areas include student centered pedagogy, inclusive education and literacy. He has also led on a number of evaluations of education projects including those funded by Comic Relief, UK Aid and US Aid. |

Daniel M. ChegeChairman of the BoardDaniel is an Accountant and Consultant based in Nairobi, focusing mainly in finance, strategy and business processes.
He has a Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Business Administration degrees, from University of Nairobi and a Diploma in Project Management from the University of Cambridge UK. He has served many clients in the public and private sector in Kenya and other countries in the region and before that he served with the Kenya’s tax administrator for over 12 years. Daniel is passionate about empowerment of young people through education and training. He believes this is the only true route for a society to escape from the shackles of poverty and ignorance. |
Edward MwangiBoard MemberEdward Irungu Mwangi is a Human Resource management professional working with the Government. He possesses a Master’s degree in Business Management with specialization in Strategic Management.
He has a Higher National Diploma in Human Resource Management and Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy. He has extensive experience in management and has served as Chairperson of Boards of school management. Edward is an author and has published award winning storybooks. The story books exemplify his passion for the young people. He is a family man and neighbor to Roko 20 Academy. |
