"To make a 🌋 you need vinegar, baking soda, liquid 🧼, red food coloring and mud. You model the mud into a 🗻, put a crater and inside put a glass. Inside the glass put 1 spoon of baking soda, half spoon of red food coloring, add the liquid soap and lastly put vinegar. We thought it would exploded but it didn't. We really loved trying.😁
We learnt making 🌋 through the internet. we were at a social studies lesson. We asked the teacher if we can about the volcano 🌋 through the internet. That where we got the idea of making the volcano."

We had an ICT training for teachers.
MR. MWAGO is an ICT expert and trains teacher in both primary and secondary schools.
Software was today installed by Mr mwago to enable coding teaching. He also taught how coding works.
Virtual Zoom teaching is on the cards.
He also introduced some virtual teaching like quizz.com and Kahoot

A busy weekend at Roko 20 with a mentorship program for Class 6 and 7 who gained practical advice, encouragement and support from one of our Advisory Board Members and our Teacher Trainer. Not forgetting extra maths tuition from a long time friend of Roko. We are humbled by your continued support.
Roko 20 goes from strength to strength.

How best to describe Roko 20 Academy?
Here’s some recent reports from the parents/grandparents of our sponsored pupils:

“Roko 20 is not just a school but a home to the lowly regarded in the society.”

“I am a mother of five children and paying for an education was not easy. There was a time when my children were street boys but because of the school the pupils are now obtaining free, best quality which is affordable for it is free and equips the pupils with skills.”

“The school has really assisted her as a mother in upbringing the child. The services offered to her by the school is beyond limits”

“The school offer good services and takes good care of the child to grow socially, psychologically and academically.”

“The grandmother thanked the school management for their beyond limit hospitality. She is a beneficially of so many things including seed for planting which are doing very well and it is because of goat project that she been able to build a better house.”

The parent thanks the school and said she used what she could have used to pay school fees and instead funded a tiny roadside stall selling vegetables.
The parent said that the devotion with the school staff is beyond parenthood. Thanks to the school.

“I have experienced beyond limit love from Roko 20 and thanks the school for standing with me at all times. The school has assisted me in even changing the morals of my grandchild who is now very responsible. This is due to progressive counselling from the Guidance and counselling Department.”

Roko 20 is more than a primary school providing children from disadvantaged backgrounds with a free education - It is a family, a community, a group of people with compassion and a passion for improving the lives of our community.
Behind the scenes is our Manager, Job, whose involvement in the welfare of the children and their families ensures that those going through the most difficult of times receive our support. Identifying a need, working with the community and other local groups he is mindful to empower rather than encourage dependency and his support provides the right amount of assistance.

This is his report:
“This was amazing. I dropped the food at Peninah and Julieta's home this evening. I was amazed by their mother who told me to pass her love to Tracey. This lady could not utter a word to us when we first met the family. Sometimes looking directly at our faces was hard but today she called her children to help collect various donations of maize, beans and rice, sanitary towels and clothes. It may not seem like much, but for the family it means a lot to them.
This lady has built up confidence, the elephantatis disease she once had has now healed and there is improvement in cleanliness.
This the satisfaction of Roko 20 work. Be blessed all for the good work you are doing to people you are not related or from same race. God bless you.

The maize, beans and rice was donated by Open Door Kenya. Soap and flour by Zakaya, local business man and his group from Nairobi, sanitary towels from Roko 20 and clothes from our Teacher Carol’s friend.”

We have come to the end of Term 1 and entered into a 7 week long Spring break.
Despite the enforced long absence in 2020 the Teachers have done a great job this term helping pupils to catch up.

Our support staff worked the land to supplement our lunch programme growing beans and maize, and the admin staff have kept everything running smoothly.
Thanks to you all and we hope you enjoy this well-deserved break.

A warm welcome and thanks to Kathy, a volunteer from the USA. Kathy joined us earlier this month and has been assisting with with one-on-one learning with more support planned during the school break.

Last but not least a big thanks to YOU, our supporters, without whom we would not be able to continue our vision of providing a free education accessible to all in our community.
