Many elderly grandparents are struggling to raise their orphaned grandchildren with very little means.
To provide them with support we formed an Elderly Ladies Group whose members are over the age of 70. The group come together at Roko 20 to socialize, have lunch and weave the traditional Kenyan Kiondos (baskets made from sisal and wool). We assist by selling their baskets in the UK and abroad. The proceeds are given directly to the grandmothers less 10% which is kept in a fund by Roko 20. This fund is used to buy planing seeds for the elderly ladies and for a Health Fund used to pay for medical costs when needed.
The products sold by Roko 20 can be purchased through our Facebook page (@roko20academy). Prices start from as little as £8 for a small basket rising up to £15 for a large.
goat and rabbit projects
The goat project allows parents and guardians of our sponsored pupils to receive an income and provide milk for their family.
Peter is now managing the goat project which has a total of 15 recipients. The first born kid is given to another family in need.
We purchased two female goats for the school's own use to provide milk for our lunch programme. A good quality male stud is used to service the female goats.
