Each year friends drive all the way from Nairobi to visit us donating sacks of food and spending the day interacting with our pupils.
Friends, neighbours, local community members and small business owners donate clothes, food stuffs and home grown vegetables and fruit.
Our Advisory Board of local professionals giving up their time providing essential guidance and support.
Big thanks to Springs of Hope Foundation Director, Jennifer Hughes-Bystrom who fundraised on our behalf through Global Giving. We received enough funds to build a library and 8 girls latrines.
the hamish learning centre
The legacy of Hamish Woodward lives on at Roko 20.
Our very good friend, Mrs Woodward, carried out the wishes of her late husband Hamish to assist those in poverty. She has donated funds to build two new classrooms, a dining hall and kitchen, 4 store-rooms and purchase a school mini-bus.
Her passion lies with helping the elderly grandmothers to bring in an income and every year donates beans and maize to each of the 41 members. Not afraid to get stuck in you will find Mrs Woodward in the kitchen cooking lunch and serving each one of the ladies.
Mrs Woodward's Christmas Parties at Roko 20 are famous. We don't know how she does it but each year she cooks a delicious Christmas lunch for everyone including our children, the elderly ladies group and staff. That's over 150 lunches. Everyone takes home a gift handed out by Father Christmas himself.
