Roko 20 Academy is a primary school opened in 2014. Situated in Kambirwa, rural Kenya the school provides children with a free education, clothes, food and basic healthcare.
Since we opened we have expanded the school and in January 2018 we will have six classrooms, a library and computer room. We have a kitchen and a dining hall where the children are provided with 3 meals per day. There are also volunteer sleeping quarters and a big football pitch where the children love to play. A shamba (garden) and a greenhouse provide many of the fruit and vegetables needed daily. We also have hens, rabbits, three goats and, of course, Paco the friendly dog.
We follow the Kenyan 8–4–4 system of education. This means that children receive 8 years of primary education, 4 years of secondary education and 4 years of university education.
Roko 20 encourages children to become self-sufficient from an early age. We teach them skills that they can use outside of school such as gardening, caring for animals, needlework and carpentry.
